The Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) Trauma Research Scholarship is a research scholarship initially offered May 1, 2001 and was funded through a grant from Wyeth.  The 2011 scholarship is funded by Pfizer, Inc. The amount of each award is $40,000 annually.  The 2011 scholarship deadline for receipt of applications and research proposals, as well as statements of support and facilities from sponsors of potential scholars is September 30, 2010.  Following receipt of the applications, the Scholarship Committee will judge the applicants on the basis of the merit of their research proposals, the potential of the applicant of future contributions to the science and practice of the surgery of trauma, and the applicant’s mentor support and dedication of the research proposal.  The Scholarship Committee of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma will make assessments, evaluations, and judgments as to the finalists and the final awardee.  Applicants for the EAST Foundation Trauma Research Scholarship must have completed their graduate medical education before the award period begins.

The announcement of the scholarship recipient will be made, following the review process, at the EAST Annual Scientific Assembly to be held January 25-29, 2011 in Naples, Florida. The period of the award is for one (1) year.
