About EAST

The Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) is a not for profit 501(c) 3 organization organized to furnish leadership and foster advances in the care of injured patients. EAST affords a forum for the exchange of knowledge pertaining to the care and rehabilitation of the injured patient. Additionally, the organization stimulates investigation and teaching in methods of treating and preventing injury from all causes.  EAST is dedicated to the study of the practice of surgery of trauma patients by establishing lectureships, scholarships, and foundations to promote, reward, and recognize individuals working in the field of injury and injury control.

EAST has more than 1000 active members who meet yearly at a four day conference at which scientific papers are presented and advances in the field are discussed.

Qualification for active membership requires an applicant to be a licensed physician, active in the field of trauma residing in the United States and in possession of a valid certificate from a surgical board which is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Physicians who are not yet board certified may join EAST as a Provisional member. Physicians from other countries are also welcome as international members. Other health care professionals may join as associate members.

In order to join, you must submit an application form, a copy of your CV, a personal statement outlining your trauma goals, and three letters of endorsement (one letter must be from an EAST member). If you do not know other EAST members, please contact our office at the addresses below and we will help you obtain endorsements. There is a $50 application fee. The deadline for membership applications for this year is October 31.
