The Annual Creighton University Medical Center Trauma Symposium will be held on 12 June 2015 in Omaha Nebraska.
Purpose: The symposium will provide practitioners with clinically relevant information and educational resources for evidence-based practice and literature review that will enhance knowledge, skills, and performance in the assessment and treatment of trauma patients.
The symposium will feature a broad range of topics including prehospital, nursing, and multiple sessions on trauma surgical care. Amongst the world class master surgeons presenting will be Drs. Don Trunkey, David Feliciano, Lena Napolitano, Larry Diebel, and co-host Dr. Juan A. Asensio.
Highlights of the program include changes in combat casualty care resulting from the experiences of the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns, cardiothoracic injuries, indications and uses of Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Aortic Occlusion (REBOA),the multidisciplinary management of complex hepatic injuries, as well as the uses and abuses of damage control surgery.
A discussion of management of the trauma patient at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, as well as neurosurgical, orthopedic, and obstetrical trauma patients will also be presented.
Management of the complex airway, acute care for burns and frostbite, selective immobilization, and PTSD in the trauma patient will round out the conference.
