1-year Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Position

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, is accepting applications for a one-year surgical critical care fellow to matriculate in August 2024.

The successful applicant will be excited to join the fellowship of one of the busiest trauma centers in the country. Our fellowship has an unexpected opening for the one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship.

The fellow will rotate on trauma ICU, surgical ICU, burn ICU, and participate in several electives (cardiac ICU, neurocritical care, palliative, ultrasound, etc). The fellows take in-house call 1-2 times per week for trauma and ICU. The operative experience is robust – with the fellows participating in vascular, cardiac, and thoracic cases. The fellow will participate in and provide didactic education to medical students and residents. Clinical research opportunities are abundant.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have completed an accredited general residency program and be Board Eligible/Board Certified in General Surgery.

The faculty are a cohesive team of 11 surgeons at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center (EPTC). EPTC is the only Level One Center in the Mid-South. Operative trauma cases remain high with a large volume of penetrating trauma. 40% of patients have an ISS > 15
