Acute Care Surgeon BE/BC in Surgical Critical Care/Trauma Surgery

Northwell Health is seeking a fulltime academic Care Surgeon BE/BC in Surgical Critical Care/Trauma Surgery to join the faculty at our North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) campus in Manhasset, NY. This is an excellent opportunity to work as a Clinician Educator in a high acuity environment with a very supportive and experienced team.
The qualified candidate will join a team of eleven other attendings in North Shore University Hospital Division of Acute Care Surgery. Surgeons will rotate through the Surgical ICU and Acute Care Surgery services. North Shore University Hospital has an exceptional emergency department. The physicians and nurses of NSUH’s Emergency Department, an American College of Surgeons designated Level 1 Trauma Center, care for more than 90,000 patients a year. NSUH is ranked among the state’s top five facilities for trauma survival rates. Northwell Health’s SkyHealth is a state-of-the-art emergency helicopter service that greatly reduces the time a critically ill or injured patient spends outside of the acute care environment. Flying over traffic at 135 miles an hour, the SkyHealth helicopter offers the fastest and safest route to and from any medical facility in the northeast region. SkyHealth has a designated helipad located at NSUH. NSUH just completed building a $325M surgical pavilion. The pavilion features 18 operating rooms, including three hybrid operating suites with advanced imaging, 44 intensive care unit beds, a lobby at the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital and two levels of parking under the building.
Northwell has four surgical residencies in its 23-hospital system. The Division also manages a 20-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Lastly, the Division is actively involved in research at the basic science, translational, and clinical level.
