Acute Care Surgeon

The Department of Surgery, Section of General Surgery is seeking candidates for a faculty position in the Division of Acute Care Surgery. Applicants must be board eligible or certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and surgical critical care. Requirements include demonstrated skills in emergency surgery, surgical critical care, trauma care, an interest in an academic career, and a record of teaching and research experience. Junior or more experienced applicants, and applicants with any combination of clinical- and non-clinical interests, are all invited to apply.

The Department of Surgery at the University of Michigan, founded in 1850, is nationally recognized for excellence in patient care, education and research. The hospital is an American College of Surgeons-verified Level 1 (adult and pediatric) Trauma Center, and also the state's only American Burn Association-verified Burn Center.

The Division of Acute Care Surgery manages trauma and burn patients, and also provides comprehensive emergency general surgery and critical care services. The Division’s 12 faculty members provide care to nearly 5,000 patients per year. They also direct the Surgical Intensive Care Unit as well as the Trauma-Burn Intensive Care Unit. The Division has major academic resources with a combined research portfolio of over $30 million over the past five years.
