Become A Member of EAST!
Thank you for your interest in membership in the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST). EAST is an organization dedicated to the nurturing of the young trauma surgeon and, as such, solicits applications from junior surgeons with an interest and training in trauma, mature surgeons who might serve as their mentors and ancillary care providers who support this endeavor. EAST is also interested in other health care professionals interested in furthering trauma care, including nurses and paramedics.
Application Deadlines and Timeline for Membership Approval
We look forward to receiving your membership application online. Membership applications completed by the application deadline - October 31st or November 30th for Fellows-in-Training applicants, will be reviewed and presented for approval at the Annual Business Meeting held in January the year following the application deadline. Applications completed after the deadline will not be considered until the following year (e.g. Applications completed by October 31 or November 30, 2013 reviewed/voted on January 2014. Applications completed after October 31 or November 30, 2013 reviewed/voted on January 2015).
Some of the important missions of the organization include the sponsorship of a national meeting with original scientific presentations in January, the creation and archiving of practice management guidelines and the development of young surgeons as national leaders in trauma by participation in key committees in EAST.
Categories for membership include:
|Active||Licensed, board-certified surgeon, under the age of 50, active in trauma - Application deadline October 31st.||$325|
|Senior||Active members who turn 50 - Application deadline October 31st.||$325|
|Associate||Physicians in non-surgical specialties and non-physicians - Application deadline October 31st.||$275|
|Provisional||Meet requirements for Active but not board certified. This category is open to residents, recent residency graduates, and trauma fellows - Application deadline October 31st.||$125|
|Fellow-In-Training||Meet the requirements for Active or Provisional but are currently completing a Trauma/Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care Surgery Fellowship. Fellowship cannot be completed prior to June 30th the year following date of application. - Application deadline November 30th.||$75 First Year/ Dues amount for Subsequent Years Depending on Membership Status (e.g. Active or Provisional)|
|Medical student||Students of any medical or osteopathic school - Application deadline October 31st.||$0|
|International - corresponding||Non-residents of US or Canada, contributed to trauma. Must have attended EAST meeting in past 2 years - Application deadline October 31st.||$0|
Applying for membership in EAST is easy! All applications must be submitted using the online system. The following items are required in order to process your application :

Application fee charged to your MasterCard, Visa, or American Express ($50, non-refundable)
Curriculum vitae - uploaded to membership application record
Endorsement letters - One endorsement must be from a current EAST Active or Senior member, or if applying for Associate membership, one endorsement must be from an EAST Active, Senior or Associate member. Those applying as Fellows-in-Training need only provide a recommendation from their fellowship director. Letters must be submitted using the online system. Hard copies or email copies cannot be accepted.
All EAST members are listed in the online application form. If you need assistance finding a member to endorse you, please email the EAST Administrative Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To join our organization, follow the easy steps outlined below. Once you initiate the process, you can check back here and follow the status of your application. Applications not completed in a two year period will be deleted.
