National Harbor, MD 20745
The 31st Point/Counterpoint Symposium will be held June 10-13, 2012 at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. Visit the Point/CounterPoint website for additional information.
The course remains committed to addressing relevant surgical/medical diseases and injuries in the three major categories of Acute Care Surgery: emergency general surgery, trauma, and critical care. The classic point/counterpoint (pro/con) format allows for optimal critical analyses of the current body of evidence on specific disease entities and injuries.
Day 1 will focus on inflammatory and necrotizing processes, along with the surgical management of other problems arising in the Acute Care Setting. The State-of-the-Art Lecturer will be David Hoyt, MD, FACS, Executive Director of the American College of Surgeons.
Day 2 is devoted to addressing controversies in trauma management and challenging surgical dogma. The state-of-the-art lecture (Charles Wolferth, Jr., MD Memorial Lecture) will be given by Dr. Sharon Henry.
Day 3 will focus on the efficacy of protocols, algorithms, and practice guidelines in the critical care setting. Dr. William Chiu will be the featured State-of-the-Art Lecturer for this day.
