Baystate Medical Center is accepting applicants for a 1-year ACGME-approved fellowship in Surgical Critical Care for the 2013-2014 academic year. BMC is a 650-bed tertiary care facility covering western Massachusetts, southern Vermont and northern Connecticut. The hospital is located in Springfield, MA and serves the community as a Level-I adult/Level-II pediatric Trauma Center that evaluates approximately 3000 and admits 1500 patients per year. The surgical ICU admits more than 750 high-acuity patients per year. Surgical services include a busy emergency general surgery service, surgical oncology, colorectal, pediatric, vascular, transplant, thoracic and minimally invasive surgery.
Springfield is centrally located in the Northeast, with easy access to Boston, New York City and the Berkshires as well as the mountains of upstate New York, Vermont and New Hampshire. This rural area is home to many colleges and universities and surrounding communities have highly rated school systems. This is an excellent opportunity for applicants with families.
Qualifications: The SCC program is to be integrated with trauma and acute care surgery, so we prefer applicants who have completed or will be completing an ACGME-approved General Surgery training program.
Interested individuals should submit:
Personal Statement Current CV 3 letters of recommendation (which should include a letter from Surgery Residency Program Director). USMLE/COMLEX scores ABSITE scores ECFMG Certificate (if foreign medical graduate)
