WMCHealth is seeking an experienced trauma surgeon to be based at the ACS Verified George T. Whalen Family Trauma Center which is part of MidHudson Regional Hospital, a 200-bed community hospital, and a Member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). With over 20 years of experience as a New York State designated Level II trauma center, MidHudson Regional Hospital, recently passed a rigorous peer review process to become the Hudson Valley’s first and only trauma care program verified “Level II” by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
We are seeking a board certified and fellowship trained critical care surgeon with a minimum of 2-5 years of experience, to join our busy Trauma service. There will be the opportunity to develop an elective surgical practice in addition to covering in-house trauma and acute care surgery. In addition, interested candidates may choose to rotate through Westchester Medical Center, the region’s only Level 1 trauma center, located in Valhalla, NY.

The successful candidate will join a team of four trauma surgeons with a large complement of in house Advanced Practice Providers. By joining MHRH, you will be an integral part of the region’s largest Regional Trauma system with unlimited opportunity for advancement. This is an employed position within our academic group practice with comprehensive benefits and malpractice coverage. Academic rank at New York Medical College and salary will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications.

As a top-level trauma center, MHRH and WMC are at the core of the regional trauma system. MidHudson Regional Hospital joins Westchester Medical Center and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital as ACS-verified trauma centers in the Hudson Valley, with Level I designation for adult and pediatric trauma care, respectively.

MidHudson Regional Hospital is located in Poughkeepsie, New York, which is 75 miles north of New York City, and 50 minutes from the Westchester Medical Center Campus. Poughkeepsie is located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, an area surrounded by beautiful mountains as well as the Hudson River, offering an abundance of outdoor activities for residents and visitors alike. Designated as a National Heritage Area, the valley is steeped in history, natural beauty, culture and a burgeoning food and farmer’s market scene. The Hudson Valley also boasts excellent public and private schools with a vibrant higher education culture, as the home to several notable institutions such as Vassar College, SUNY New Paltz, Marist College and the Culinary Institute of America, among others.
