EAST - Committed to Our Communities
Thursday, May 28, 2020
Dear EAST Members,
We are an organization that was founded upon the principal of inclusivity with the purpose “…to afford a forum for the exchange of knowledge pertaining to injury control, research, practice, and training in prevention, care, and rehabilitation of injury; to stimulate investigation and teaching in the methods of preventing, correcting, and treating injuries…” As those who care for the injured and critically ill, we realize, we see, and we feel the effects of violence alongside our patients and their families. We understand the effects of structural inequities and the need for meaningful change and prevention efforts within those communities at greatest risk. For our many members who are hurting right now for numerous reasons, know that EAST is here for you and we hurt alongside you. We must remain committed to those patients and communities which we serve, push forward and find a way to achieve meaningful change and prevention efforts to curb inexplicable violent acts. While I certainly do not have the answers, I know that we can each contribute and press forward together. As an organization, our diversity makes us stronger together as the ONE great organization that is EAST.
