Join the next EAST Twitter Member Chat on November 23rd at 11 am ET!

Thursday, November 4, 2021

Calling EAST members! Join us on Twitter @EAST_TRAUMA on Tuesday, November 23rd beginning at 11:00 am Eastern Time for our monthly EAST Member Chat.

This month, we invite recipients of the EAST Leadership Development Workshop Scholarship to share how they have benefited from this scholarship, which recognizes early career trauma leaders and sponsors their course tuition for the three-year Leadership Development Workshop series. Learn more about this scholarship here and join our recipients on November 23rd to hear about their experiences and ask questions.

For more information on how to participate in the chat or set up a Twitter account, check out the guides below.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Getting Started with Twitter
Dr. Heather Logghe has posted an excellent introduction to Twitter, including signing up and creating your profile. Visit,  “Twitter 101 for Surgeons: How to set up a professional Twitter account,” for more information.

Once you have signed up, learning to use the service is easy. The University of Utah Health Sciences has developed an easy-to-read handout, “Twitter 101: Understanding & Navigating Twitter,” that describes @s, #s, replies, DMs, RTs, and other basics for health care professionals getting started on Twitter.

Joining a Twitter Chat
Hashtags like #EASTMemberChat allow many people to easily talk about a single subject without the “reply-to-a-reply-to-a-reply” chains seen in email or in small Twitter conversations.  A group of people can use the same hashtag to create a tweet chat that can then be easily followed, searched, and archived.  To participate in the chat, just include #EASTMemberChat in your tweet. Following the ongoing discussion is as easy as tapping or clicking on the #EASTMemberChat hashtag or searching for it on the web or on your device’s Twitter app.
