The Annual Creighton University Medical Center Trauma Symposium will be held on June 17, 2016 in Omaha Nebraska.  

This symposium will provide practitioners with clinically relevant information and educational resources for evidence-based practice and literature review that will enhance knowledge, skills, and performance in the assessment and treatment of trauma patients.   This year’s symposium will feature the unique elements and trauma care to our war wounded as well as some of the new technology and medical treatments that are being used to care for the our war wounded.  There will be a heavy emphasis on the surgical management of trauma patients.

Internationally renowned surgeons who will be presenting include Jay A. Johanningman, Martin A. Schreiber, Gregory J. Jurkovich, Robert C. Mackersie, R. Stephen Smith, and co-host Juan A. Asensio.

The brochure further elaborates on the sessions.   The surgical management of cardiac, pulmonary and thoracic vascular injuries will be discussed in one of the featured morning sessions. 

Complex case reviews from a joint nurse-physician perspective will be featured in the afternoon as well as discussions on prehospital intubation, concussions in athletes, and the logistics of the Mass Casualty Response.

The closing session features the Chief of Police of Omaha discussing management of the active shooter scenario.
