The Department of Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center and the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Burns are offering a one-year fellowship in Surgical Critical Care, starting in July. Loyola University Medical Center, located just 13 miles west of downtown Chicago in the suburb of Maywood, is a Level I Trauma Center with pediatric commitment, the only ACS verified trauma center in the State of Illinois. This additional accolade supplements the state of Illinois designation as a Level I Trauma Center, delivering the highest standards of care to injured patients. We are also the only ACS verified Burn Center in Chicago.

We have a 24 bed surgical intensive care unit, as well as a 10 bed burn unit. The program will be offered in affiliation with the Hines Veterans Administration Hospital, under the supervision of five Board-certified surgical intensivists with a strong interest in academic and clinical surgery. The emphasis of the program will be directed toward the development of clinical, research and administrative skills.

Applicants should have completed an approved residency in General Surgery or a surgical subspecialty, and be Board eligible or certified.
