The purpose of the fellowship is to provide extended training in surgical critical care. The fellow will complete rotations in the Surgical ICU, and also spend time rotating on Pulmonary, Cardiology, and Renal services. A core reading curriculum has been developed, and weekly discussions to review the material will be held with the Surgical ICU critical care attending. Participation in a research project is also expected.
Palmetto Health Richland is the only Level I Trauma Center in the Midlands of South Carolina. USC Dept of Surgery and Palmetto Health Richland and are located in historic Columbia, SC. Qualifications: Categorical resident or board eligible / certified surgeon
Applications are accepted up to August 1 during the year prior to starting the Fellowship. Interviews will be conducted in the summer months. Formal acceptance into the Fellowship is done through NRMP. Deadlines may be obtained on their website. The following information will be needed to apply:

•3 letters of recommendation, one of which should be from your Program Director (if applicable)
•Board Certification/Eligibility in General Surgery or letter from current Program Director confirming eligibility to return to categorical position
