THE TRAUMA CENTER AT HARTFORD HOSPITAL

The Trauma Center located at Hartford Hospital is at the heart of Hartford HealthCare, a six acute care hospital comprehensive and integrated health system. The network is served by Hartford Hospital’s own three helicopter aeromedical service, LifeStar, since 1985. It is part of a larger Trauma Institute that has a proud history as the origin of the ATOM Course, a longstanding footprint in global trauma care, four Surgical Critical Care fellows, two AAST-approved Acute Care Surgery fellows and more recently the Hartford Consensus. The hospital boasts a brand new building housing the Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation (CESI), one of the most advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. The Trauma Center is one component of an active Acute Care Surgery service of 8 surgeons within a hospital with greater than 106,000 ED visits and over 2000 trauma admissions per year. There are abundant opportunities for trauma-related research, participation in medical education, and academic promotion within the system at the University of Connecticut Medical School.

Additional requirements would include membership in the American College of Surgeons as a Fellow and in the AAST, and experience/interest in programmatic development.
