Trauma/Acute Care Surgeon

The Department of Surgery at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago’s western suburbs is seeking a full-time academic trauma/ACS surgeon to join the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery. Loyola is a busy Level 1 trauma center and ACS/ABA approved Burn Center located in Maywood, on the western edge of Chicago. The Division has an active Acute Care Surgery Service with an in house 24-7 attending presence. There is also an accredited fellowship in surgical critical care. The clinical and educational programs are closely aligned with the activities of the Burn Shock Trauma Research Institute (BSTRI). The BSTRI programs include ongoing basic, translational and clinical trial activities in wound healing, acute kidney injury, fracture healing, traumatic brain injury and alcohol associated injuries. There are two NIH T32 training grants within the BSTI in addition to other federal funding. Diverse research opportunities are available and encouraged.
Candidates must be board-certified or eligible in general surgery and surgical critical care. This position is for full-time faculty and salary will be commensurate with experience. The candidate will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Loyola Medicine is a quaternary care system that includes Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC) in Maywood, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (GMH) in Melrose Park, MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn and convenient locations offering primary and specialty care services from 1,772 physicians throughout Cook, Will and DuPage counties. LUMC is a 547-licensed-bed hospital that includes the William G. and Mary A. Ryan Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine, the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, a Level 1 trauma center, Illinois's largest burn center, a certified comprehensive stroke center and a children’s hospital. The medical center campus is also home to Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing and the Loyola Center for Fitness.
