The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Department of Surgery is conducting a search for a Chief of Acute Care Surgery in Omaha, NE. This is an outstanding opportunity to run a newly created division within the Department of Surgery and build on the group’s existing foundation in UNMC’s progressive academic medical environment, leading a growing Acute Care Surgery Program. Our hospital partner, Nebraska Medicine is an ACS certified Level I Trauma Center serving Nebraska and the surrounding region.

The Chief reports to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and will lead the Acute Care Surgery Division with the responsibility for teaching, research, and clinical service as well as academic planning, development, and resource management.

The successful candidate will be an MD/DO (or equivalent degree), board certified in general surgery and critical care surgery and Fellowship-Trained in Critical Care Surgery, with experience in leadership and management in an academic setting. He/she will possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills, have the ability to foster research, and share a commitment to service, excellence and diversity.
