Acute Care and Burn Surgeon

The Department of Surgery of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is seeking a full-time Acute Care Surgeon in the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care with an added interest in Burn care. There is an opportunity to be the assistant Burn Center Director with potential of future advancement.

Located in Providence, Rhode Island Hospital is a 719-bed acute care hospital offering a full range of medical and surgical services. Additionally, Rhode Island Hospital is the sponsoring institution for the residency and fellowship training programs of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Rhode Island Hospital’s trauma center is the busiest in New England and is home to the region’s only ACS-COT verified Adult and pediatric Level-1 trauma centers as well as the region’s only ABA-verified Burn Center.

Board certification in general surgery is required. Completion or anticipated completion of an American Board of Surgeons accredited Surgery Critical Care Fellowship Training Program is required. Previous burn care experience or formal burn care training is highly desirable. Demonstrated competency in trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care is required. Commitment to an academic career, including teaching of medical students, residents and fellows is expected. Basic or clinical science research experience in trauma and inflammation is preferred. Candidates must meet qualifications for appointment to a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
