The Department of surgery at VCU Heath System is seeking a qualified faculty member to join the division of acute care surgical services (trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care) at VCU Medical Center and affiliated campuses. VCU Health System is a 700 bed Level I trauma center with over 4,300 adult trauma admissions per year, the largest and only comprehensive Level I center in the state of Virginia. The team also provides for critical care for other surgical disciplines including solid organ transplants in a 28-bed surgical trauma intensive care unit. Additionally, the acute care surgery team covers a very busy emergency general surgery service performing over 2500 cases per year.

Qualifications: Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery. Fellowship in Trauma/Critical Care is required. In addition to the busy clinical practice will actively participate in education curriculum for two critical care fellows, residents and medical students. Faculty should demonstrate commitment and interest laboratory and/or clinical research. Ability to handle long and arduous hours with a sense of purpose, as a member of the team is essential.

This position is a non-tenure eligible position on the collateral track. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. Expectation to round at Level 1 Trauma Center, Emergency General Surgery Service in addition to Community Trauma and EGS care.
