Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon- Clinical Associate

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, seeks a Clinical Associate at 50% effort for a renewable two-year term. The appointee will contribute to patient care, in a level 1 Trauma Center. This individual will provide clinical care in Trauma, Emergency Room, ICU, and General Surgery settings. They will join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine, the Biological Science Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. A tradition of excellence in patient care, basic, clinical, and translational sciences, combined with the strengths of one of the world's top academic institutions provides the foundation for a potential career as an academic physician.

We especially welcome applicants with trauma and acute care surgery experience . The position does not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications and % effort. The UCM has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children's Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more
than 550 beds in service. New ambulatory facilities are located in Orland Park and the South Loop, and the Ingalls Health System has recently integrated into the network.
The University of Chicago has established a Level 1 adult trauma services on its Hyde Park medical campus, supplementing the existing Level 1 pediatric trauma services and the Burn and Complex Wound Center. .

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be Board certified or eligible in general surgery (or equivalent).
