The Division of Acute Care Surgery at the Riverside University Health System Medical Center (RUHSMC) in Riverside County, California, is actively recruiting for an acute care/trauma surgeon at the level of Associate/Full Professor. Qualified individuals will practice acute care surgery with rotations on Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency General Surgery, in addition to elective general surgery. Leadership opportunities in the trauma program are available and will be considered for the qualified individual.
The hospital is a safety net facility for Riverside County in Southern California, with a population of 2 million. RUHS is a Level 2 ACS-verified Adult Trauma Center, seeking Level-1 verification in 2020. The faculty cares for 2700 trauma admissions yearly, performs 1,500 emergency general surgery cases, and provides high level complex care in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
RUHSMC has its residency programs in surgery, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, anesthesiology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, pediatrics, family medicine, and radiology. It serves as an affiliated teaching institution to Loma Linda University School of Medicine and to the University of California Riverside School of Medicine.
There are ample opportunities for research in our Comparative Effectiveness and Clinical Outcomes Research Center – CECORC; a fully staffed research center with strong commitment to dissemination of research throughout all departments of the hospital with robust biostatistical support and infrastructure for Health Services Research.
Requirements – An M.D. or D.O., American Board of Surgery certification in surgery with added qualification in surgical critical care, and a California medical license are required. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience.
A strong track record in education or research is preferred in addition to demonstrated ability in providing excellent patient care and leadership skills. A minimum of 5 years post-fellowship is preferred.
