Trauma/Critical Care Surgeon

In search of individual who is double boarded in trauma and surgical critical care, who has had large experience in a high volume trauma center, who thrives in chaos and embraces imperfection as opportunity for improvement, and who is also looking to become trauma medical director. San Joaquin General Hospital is the county hospital and only trauma center for this county of 760,000 in the Northern San Joaquin Valley of California. We are an ACS Level 3 center (looking to be level 2). We are an "outpost" geographically so we get everything. Total trauma volume >4000 per year and penetrating trauma >400 (60% GSW). Ten deaths a month. Average ICU census 12 with 11 of those on mechanical vent. Transfer in 25/month, transfer out 7/month (mostly burns and critical peds). Gen surg residency with 3 categorical per year. Will do gen surg work also. Great relationship and regional activities with other centers including UC Davis and SF General. Area is chronically underserved and Stockton, largest city in the county, is the most racially diverse in the country. Hospital is 156 licensed beds.
