EAST Multicenter Trial Junior Investigator Award
The EAST Multicenter Trial Junior Investigator Award is to assist a junior primary investigator to successfully conduct and publish a multicenter trial assembling data from five or more centers which seeks to answer an important and novel question in the practice of trauma, acute care surgery or surgical critical care which will change or significantly affect the care of injured or critically ill patients. This award will be offered July 1, 2020. The award amount is $6,000 for one (1) year only and the project must be completed within five (5) years. It is currently funded through a grant from EAST. While it's not a requirement, the $6,000 award can be applied towards utilizing online data collection portal, a shared resource of EAST and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST). The 2020 scholarship deadline for receipt of Letters of Intent is May 29, 2019. Following receipt of the Letters of Intent, the Multicenter Trials Committee, along with the Chair of the Research-Scholarship Committee and the Research Division Chair will judge the Letters of Intent on the basis of the merit of their proposal and the potential of the applicant of future contributions to change or significantly affect the care of injured or critically ill patients. The top ranked Letters of Intent will be invited to submit full proposals by August 2, 2019. The Multicenter Trials Committee, along with the Chair of the Research-Scholarship Committee and Research Division Chair will review full proposals in August 2019 and select the final awardee. The announcement of the scholarship recipient will be made, following the review process, at the EAST Annual Scientific Assembly to be held January 14-18, 2020 at the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort in Orlando, Florida.
