The conference supported five Participants, nine Reviewers (Faculty), and was moderated by Dr. Jason W. Smith, EAST Research Division, Director-at- Large, and Dr. Ben Zarzaur, EAST Research-Scholarship Committee Member. Dr. Malaz Boustani, Founding Director, Chief Innovation & Implementation Officer for the Center for Health Innovation & Implementation Science delivered the Keynote Address, “A Blueprint for Health Care Delivery Transformation” which highlighted how his unorthodox ideas about research and funding methodology helped to change healthcare delivery at Indiana University. He also highlighted his humble beginnings and difficulties in securing funding at the start of his amazing career. With the intention of supporting the EAST mission by providing support to the young surgeon, the program delivered fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to advance the care of the injured patient through research.
