Marcus Trauma Center of Grady Memorial Hospital is the only Level 1 trauma center in Atlanta verified by the American College of Surgeons. Through the Emory University School of Medicine, the Department of Surgery at Grady is currently accepting applications for its 2022-2023 Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Fellowship. This 1-year program is fully accredited by the AAST at a premier academic trauma center in the heart of Atlanta. This fellowship will provide a robust clinical experience in trauma and emergency general surgery. The fellow will work closely with 15 full-time ACS faculty, additional ACS fellows, APPs, and surgical residents from both Emory and Morehouse Schools of Medicine. The ACS service at Grady Memorial Hospital performs a broad spectrum of surgical procedures including trauma, emergency general surgery, and outpatient elective general surgery. Focused clinical experiences during the academic year will also include elective rotations in PM&R, vascular, orthopedics, and cardiothoracic surgery. All ACS fellows will be expected to complete the BEST course, participate in ACS research and trainee education, and provide cadaver lab instruction during the academic year. The ideal candidate for this fellowship desires a career in trauma and emergency general surgery. Upon completion of this training program, the candidate will be prepared to join and provide comprehensive trauma and acute surgical care in a major trauma center. Candidates are required to have completed both a general surgery residency and a surgical critical care fellowship to be considered for this open position. Prior to starting, candidates must also have an active ATLS certificate and a Georgia State medical license. Start date will be August 1, 2022.
