The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics seeks surgical residents or board eligible surgical graduates for a one year BURN FELLOWSHIP with optional second year as the Surgical Critical Care Fellow. With admissions between 300-400 annually, the trainee will acquire in-depth experience in the management of the entire spectrum of burn, complex wound care and critical care in the setting of a tertiary university teaching hospital. Upon completion of the one-year burn fellowship, the trainee (at least three years of general surgery required) can complete a second year as the critical care fellow in the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship. This will allow the trainee to sit for the American Board of Surgery Examination in Surgical Critical Care.

Qualifications: Ideal candidates for our program must have completed/be completing an ACGME General Surgery and/or Plastic Surgery residency and be eligible for certification by the American Board of Surgery. Applicants interested in stepping out of their general surgery or plastics residency for fellowship are reviewed on an individual basis, but must have completed a minimum of two years residency. J-1 and H1b visas are encouraged to apply
