Academic Acute Care and Trauma Surgeon

The Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School, Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care in the Department of Surgery is seeking applications for a full-time Academic Trauma/General Surgeon at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have a strong interest in clinical practice of acute care surgery, trauma, surgical critical care. In addition, applicants should demonstrate a commitment to scientific research in either basic science, clinical trials or health services research and the education of fellows, residents, and medical students. The newly renamed, Eric Muñoz Trauma Center (formerly the New Jersey Trauma Center) at University Hospital in Newark, is the busiest Level 1 trauma center in New Jersey with over 4000 trauma activations and over 2000 trauma admissions annually consisting of a mix of 75% blunt and 25% penetrating trauma.

Candidates must be board certified/eligible in general surgery and be able to sit for the certificate of added qualifications in surgical critical care. You must also be eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey.
