Trauma and Acute Care Surgery

The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates’ Department of Surgery (MFA) is seeking a full-time faculty member for the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Section. The MFA is an independent not-for-profit clinical practice group affiliated with the George Washington University. This non-tenure track appointment will be made at a rank (Assistant/Associate Professor) commensurate with experience.

Our practice is centered in the Washington, DC metropolitan area where we operate two busy Trauma Centers. We are seeking to recruit a trauma/acute care surgeon with responsibilities to provide coverage at both facilities, and related clinical care as it pertains to trauma/emergency general surgery/and critical care as well as teaching fellows, residents and medical students and contributing to an active research program.

Basic qualifications: Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care at the time of appointment. They should have demonstrated excellence in teaching as evidenced by teaching evaluations, in research as evidenced by scholarly publications or works in progress, and excellence in clinical care as evidenced by experience, fellowships, and references. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia and Virginia at the time of appointment.
