Acute Care Surgery

Tulane University School of Medicine's Department of Surgery is seeking candidates for a clinical faculty position in Acute Care Surgery at the assistant or associate professor level.

Candidates should have satisfactorily completed a training program in general surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and be board certified, or eligible if recently trained, and eligible for licensure in Louisiana. Fellowship training in trauma and critical care is required.

The clinical practice associated with this position will be for SICU and Emergency General Surgery. The Acute Care Surgery Service is based out of Tulane Hospital and Clinics in New Orleans and is being transitioned to East Jefferson General Hospital in the metro New Orleans area. East Jefferson General Hospital will be the main teaching hospital for Tulane University SoM. Trauma call and Trauma ICU (TICU) at University Medical Center (UMC) Norman McSwain Level I Trauma Center can be negotiable. Additional responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate medical education. This is an excellent opportunity for an acute care surgeon interested in the education of residents and medical students in our busy academic program. Applicants should have special interest in basic science and/or clinical research.
