Acute Care Surgery
Ochsner Health System is recruiting two surgeons to join our Acute Care Surgery group at our Jefferson Highway campus in New Orleans. The qualified individuals will join our group of five Acute Care Surgeons. Four have completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship and the other advanced training in Surgical Oncology. Ochsner has an independent surgical residency that finishes six chiefs per year and trains fellows in Colorectal, Cardiothoracic, Vascular, and Transplant. Ochsner provides the final two years of clinical training for medical students from the University of Queensland (Australia). Candidates should have a strong interest in education and participation in clinical research.
Ochsner Medical Center Jefferson Highway campus has 767 beds and is the leading provider of tertiary and quaternary health care services in the Gulf South. The Surgical ICU has 34 beds and is one of six critical care units in the hospital. The Department of Surgery includes 45 surgeons divided into sections of General Surgery, Plastics, Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Pediatric Surgery and Transplant. The General Surgery section includes 15 members divided into Surgical Oncology, Breast and Endocrine, Minimally Invasive/Bariatrics, and Acute Care Surgery.
