Burn Surgeon

The Department of Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inviting applications for burn surgeon in the Ross Tilley Burn Centre. The position is a full time, permanent position.

The effect date of this appointment is flexible, tentatively aiming for July 1, 2022.

The candidate will have completed a fellowship in burn surgery and is expected to allocate half of their time to burn care inclusive of complex wound care and burn reconstruction, with the remaining focus on either trauma surgery or general plastic surgery. Those interested in plastic surgery must have, or be eligible for certification in plastic and reconstructive surgery through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent. Candidates with a focus on trauma surgery must have, or be eligible for certification in general surgery through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and must have completed a trauma fellowship. They must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The successful candidate should have graduate level training in a relevant area of research or scholarship that is aligned with Sunnybrook Research Institute’s programs or platforms in evaluative clinical sciences, biological sciences or the physical sciences (https://sunnybrook.ca/research/). They also must be eligible for academic appointment at the rank of Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research profile and contribute to the academic mission of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. As a member of the Department of Surgery and the University of Toronto, the candidate is expected to participate in education of learners at all levels. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required.

Salary will be between the range of $300,000-$500,00, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This estimate is based on fee for service billings.
