Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Temple is seeking an outstanding early to mid-career academic Acute Care Surgeon to join the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery, within the Department of Surgery at our flagship hospital in Temple, TX.
Candidates must be BC/BE in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.

Position Information
• Privileges at our American College of Surgeons verified Level I Trauma facility in Temple, TX
• Long term goal is to create a complete team of 8-10 Acute Care Surgeons
• Responsibilities will include:
o Evaluation of all trauma and emergency general surgery consults
o Resident and medical student lectures for all aspects of Acute Care Surgery
o Regional commitment to trauma and emergency services
o Instructors for ATLS, ATOM, ASSET
o Research and PI projects for Acute Care Surgery
o Involvement in both TQIP and NSQIP
• 24 hour Dedicated OR Suite for Acute Care Surgery (Trauma and Emergency General Surgery) with no restriction to OR access
• Established Surgical & Trauma Intensive Care Unit
• Experience in laparoscopic surgery required
• Academic affiliation with Texas A&M College of Medicine
• Large general surgery residency program with resident coverage at all times.
• Geriatric Trauma Service with full complement of APPs
• In house trauma call is expected with dedicated call rooms available

• Fellow of the American College of Surgeons when qualified
• Experience with the surgical care of trauma, emergency general surgery, and critical care patients
