Trauma Medical Director

The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Division of Trauma, Emergency Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care (TESSCC) is seeking a Trauma Medical Director for the MGH. The surgeon will have an appointment at the Massachusetts General Hospital and an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School, anticipated at either the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. Reporting to the Division Chief of TESSCC and MGH Trauma Center Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day clinical operations and administrative aspects of Trauma, including planning, developing, implementing, and directing the activities of the service. He/she is responsible for assuring patient satisfaction with services provided and for developing policies and procedures for the effective and efficient performance of these services. The Medical Director will coordinate care with other specialties to ensure the MGH Trauma Center meets the needs of injured patients. The academic appointment will be commensurate with experience and credentials.

The Medical Director should be an experienced general surgeon clinically capable in all aspects of trauma care and emergency surgery. We seek candidates of diverse backgrounds who are excited to engage in the clinical, educational, and scholarly missions of our Division at MGH and in teaching activities at Harvard Medical School. Board certification and/or added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care required.

The MGH is a 1,035-bed facility in Boston, MA and is an ACS-verified Level I Adult Trauma Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and ABA-verified Burn Center.
