Description: The “Engage the Masters” forum will be a highly interactive session that will be held during the 33rd EAST Annual Scientific Assembly, January 14-18, 2020 in Orlando, Florida. The session will allow residents, fellows and junior faculty members to present brief, interesting cases to a panel of “Masters” who will discuss the management options, pitfalls, and innovations.

What type of cases are being sought? Cases will be selected based on their ability to challenge the “Masters” and stimulate discussion around the fundamentals of management. All case submissions will be adjudicated by the EAST Career Development Committee and the authors* of the top three cases will present them during the Engage the Masters session being held at the 33rd EAST Annual Scientific Assembly, January 14-18, 2020 at the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort in Orlando, Florida.  The EAST Engage the Masters session will be held on January 17, 2020.

Cases that have been previously presented at a national or regional meeting or published are not eligible.

Case submission format: Cases in trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care will be considered. Military cases are also encouraged. Case submissions are to be limited to 300 words and the management should be distilled down to 1-2 critical decisions in the management. Also, include your name, title or level of training, institution and career goals.

Examples of the types of cases that should be submitted:

  • Thoraco-Abdominal GSW: Where to start?
