Committee on Trauma Guidance Statement on Maintaining Access to Care in Response to COVID-19

Friday, March 20, 2020

Dear Trauma Medical Directors and Program Managers:

We hope you are all well and managing to keep up in these challenging times for our healthcare systems. The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma convened a small group of experts from its disaster and trauma systems committees to create a Guidance document to provide you some organized thoughts and resources regarding factors to consider in maintaining access to care for trauma patients during this epidemic. We hope you will find this a useful reference in the planning process. Download the guidance document.

We greatly value the work that you are doing in your home institutions. If you identify more areas in which clarity or direction might be useful as it pertains to the Trauma Quality Programs, please do not hesitate to reach out to the team at traumaquality@facs.org. The Committee on Trauma is here to support you and welcomes your ideas on broad areas of information need for Trauma Centers.

We are all in this together.

All my best,

Eileen M Bulger MD, FACS
Chair, Committee on Trauma
American College of Surgeons
