As a verified adult and pediatric Level II Trauma Center, Mission Hospital provides a full range of specialty health care services with highly skilled teams treating a multitude of complex conditions. Services include a full range of expertise in cardiovascular, neuroscience and spine, orthopedics, cancer care, women’s services, mental health & wellness, and a variety of other specialty services. Mission Hospital in Laguna Beach (MHLB) provides South Orange County coastal communities with 24-hour emergency and intensive care as well as medical-surgical/telemetry services, orthopedics, general and GI surgery. CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital is a 48-bed facility that is the area’s only dedicated pediatric hospital.

Trauma Program:
• 523-bed Acute Care Facility
• Level II Adult and Pediatric ACS Verified Trauma Center
• Hybrid OR (16 surgical suites, includes 1 designated for trauma)
• 32 bed ICU (20 surg + medical + 8 pediatric)
• ED Volume: 70k per year
• Emergency General Surgery covered 12 days/mo by Trauma team
• Approximately 8 24 hour trauma call and/or general surgery call shifts/month
• Trauma activations- approximately 2500/ yr
• Approximately 110 pediatric trauma admissions/yr
• Inpatient census: 12-25/day (volume spikes in summer)

Trauma Surgeon Criteria:
• Board Certified General Surgery with Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Training
* Board Certified/Eligible in Surgical Critical Care
• ATLS Required
