Trauma / Acute Care Surgeon / Surgical Intensivist

The Department of Surgery at the Los Angeles County / Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is seeking candidates for a full-time trauma surgeon / surgical intensivist position within the Division of Trauma Surgery. The position carries an academic appointment to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Candidates must be board certified or eligible in general surgery and have completed a fellowship in trauma / surgical critical care. Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a 531-bed Level I Trauma Center located in southwest Los Angeles which serves as a major teaching hospital for the UCLA School of Medicine. The annual trauma patient volume is 4,000 with an 80/20% blunt / penetrating patient mix. Responsibilities will include in-house coverage of the Trauma Service as well as the 14- bed Surgical ICU. Call includes ample emergency general surgery experience. The successful candidate will actively participate in trauma / critical care quality improvement projects as well as the education of surgical critical care fellows, general surgery residents, and UCLA medical students. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in clinical research and successful grant funding.
