Director of Trauma

The Program in Trauma of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center (STC) seeks applications and nominations for the position of Director of Trauma. The STC delivers the largest amount of trauma care in the United States, caring for approximately 7,800 patients per year. The trauma/critical care faculty numbers approximately 25 physicians. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the delivery of trauma care in the nation’s only freestanding trauma hospital.

The successful candidate must be a master clinician, capable of supervising high-end clinical care. He/she should also have extensive administrative experience. A successful research career, including a track record of funded investigation and leading multidisciplinary research is preferred.

The successful candidate should have an MD degree or its equivalent. Residency training in surgery is preferred. The successful candidate must be fellowship trained in critical care.

Appointment will be at the Associate Professor or Professor level with tenure status and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. An Endowed Professorship is available, as appropriate.
