b'www.east.org 11Dear EAST members:We continually strive to become a more#EAST4ALLequitable organization. We are excited to announce that you will soon see changes to your Profile page on the EAST website that will allow for more choices in describing your gender and racial/ethnic background, as well as the option to specify your pronouns. Your responses are confidential and not visible to others when your profile is viewed through the member directory. All responses are voluntary.GenderSince gender is more than binary, we aim to reflect this on our profile pages. Please mark as many of the options you feel best represent you. You may also choose to write in the terms that best describe yourself in the not listed section. Definitions for the less commonly used terms can be found here and here. PronounsAlong with better describing their gender identity, EAST members now have the option to specify their pronouns. We have listed the most commonly used sets of pronouns here, along with the option to write in other or additional pronoun sets that best describe you.Race and ethnicityIn order to better understand who we are and where we come from, we are giving EAST members the choice to describe their racial and ethnic background. Please mark all answers that you feel represent you. You may also choose to write in the terms that best describe yourself in the not listed option choice provided.Moving forward, the EAST Board of Directors will periodically review anonymous aggregated data and make modifications to the choices as deemed appropriate. If you have any questions or feedback about these changes, please dont hesitate to reach out to us. Through the vision of our leadership and organization we continue to make strides to improve equity, diversity, and inclusion in trauma surgery.Esther Tseng, MD, FACSBellal Joseph, MD, FACS Co-Chairs, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Trauma Surgery Practice Committee (#EAST4ALL)'
