b'6 EAST news | 2021 Issue 3EAST End-of-Year Development Fund RecapDear Colleagues, At EAST we understand that the past couple of years have been extremely challenging. Despite this, our members have risen to the challenge of caring for critically ill and injured patients across the country. Most recently, they joined our inaugural EAST Trauma Center Challenge and helped raise more than $100,000 to support our mission of promoting injury prevention, research and improved trauma systems design while cultivating the next generation of trauma surgeons. For this, we sincerely thank you all!On Giving Tuesday, rather than asking you to give to EAST, we decided to give back to you for all that you do by gifting a few randomly selected EAST members with EAST swag as small tokens of our appreciation. Although your name may not have been selected, know that we cannot thank you enough for all that you mean to EAST and the millions of people we have helped together through our injury prevention, research efforts, and practice management guidelines. As we approach the end of the year, an unprecedented $208,500 has been raised in 2021 for the EAST Development Fund! We are excited to use these funds to support initiatives for leadership, education, research, and injury control and violence prevention. If you have not yet given, there is still time to do so before the end of the year. Consider a one-time donation or a long-term investment by opting in for recurring donations. Thank you for all that you do and for helping us support the next generation of trauma leaders through the numerous EAST Scholarships & Awards and programs such as the INVEST-C Research Hackathon made possible thanks to your generosity.Sincerely,Jeffry Nahmias, MD, MHPE, FACS, FCCMThomas Duncan, DO, FACS, FICS Chair, EAST Development Committee EAST Senior Director-at LargeLearn more about the scholarships and awards that have been made possible through the support of your generosity'
