Dear Colleagues As we transition from summer to fall I want to share some of the exciting initiatives that the EAST Board of Directors EAST Divisions and Sections have been working on throughout the summer. First under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Bernard Annual Scientific Assembly Section Chair EAST has been diligently preparing an exciting Annual Scientific Assembly with several new additions to the program outline. Of the 336 abstracts submitted the Raymond H. Alexander Resident Paper Competition of the EAST Foundation has been expanded to 11 presentations. A new Quick Shots session has been added with 20 papers to be presented during two parallel Quick Shot Sessions 10 per session. Scientific Posters will also be present- ed and the Virtual Poster Gallery will again be available so that you may review posters in advance of the traditional Scientific Posters Session. In the Online Education Section Dr. Matt Martin has re-invigorated our online education activities. The Traumacasts are an excellent resource to hear about timely issues we are facing and the Online Education Center features 49 online CME programs all eligible for Self-Assess- ment Credit. The Career Development Section led by Dr. Cynthina Tal- ley has also produced more than 15 Careercasts focused on different stages in career development and management. Our organizations focus on the young trauma surgeon and fellow continues with a fellow-friendly educational track and a fellow reg- istration package being offered again for the 2016 Annual Scientific Assembly. Also new this year we will be conducting a new workshop titled Bridging the GapA Fellows Workshop. This new and exciting workshop will focus on questions that arise as you start your career as a Trauma Surgeon Attending. In addition we will also be offering fellows who will not complete their training until June 2016 a discounted rate to join our incredible organization. I am also happy to announce that EAST is proud to be partnering with the AAST NTI ACS-COT and WTA on the Coalition for National Trau- ma Research CNTR. Visit the CNTR website at httpcoalitionntr.org for more details on this important coalition and its purpose. Message from the President 2015 ISSUE THREE Stanley J.
