EAST news 2015 Issue 32 EAST Mission Statement EAST is a scientific organization providing lead- ership and development for young surgeons active in the care of the injured patient through interdisciplinary collaboration scholarship and fellowship. EAST Vision Statement EAST seeks to improve care of the injured by provid- ing a forum for the exchange of knowledge in the prac- tice of trauma surgery to promote trauma prevention research and improved trauma systems design to encourage investigation and teaching of the methods of preventing and treating trauma and to stimulate future generations of sur- geons to meet the challenge. There are so many initiatives being started from our newly organized governance structure that it is hard to report on all of them. Here are a few highlights. The Division of Research Led by Dr. Joe Du- Bose is working on new several proposals to help fund our research scholarships a new Young Investigator Award is in development and EAST-sponsored Multicenter Trials continue to move forward. Dr. Saranis Division of Patient Care and Resources are extremely busy as well. EAST went to the White House again this fall to further participate in the National Security Bystander Hemorrhage Control Program. We have an amazing 30 new Practice Management Guide- lines under development and have published several new Guidelines just this summer in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. Dr. Guillamondegui and the Division of Member Services have been busier than ever helping our organization to grow more than 1800 members. The Division of Publications led by Dr. Kevin Schuster have made the EAST Monthly Literature Review program and EASTs Twitter Journal Club huge successes. We are out in social media more than ever and spreading the word about all that EAST does. Finally the Division of Professional Development led by Dr. Deborah Stein has been extremely busy as well as all the Sections under this Division have contributed content for the 2016 Annual Scientific As- sembly and have perpetuated EASTs commitment to mentoring and career development. I am always amazed by the spirit and accom- plishments of our great organization. So as you can see EAST has a plethora of exciting offerings. I en- courage all of you to get involved with this unique organization. The Call for Volunteers will be available this fall please keep an eye out for it and respond indicating how you would like to be involved.
