The Program in Trauma at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is currently recruiting a full-time surgery faculty member at UM Capital Region Health (UMCRH) Medical Center located in Largo, Maryland.

Clinical responsibilities include trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care. Resident/student education and research are also core components of the position. The trauma center is the 2nd busiest in the state of Maryland, with a good mix of penetrating and blunt mechanisms of injury.

Requirements include: board certification/eligibility by the American Board of Surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care, fellowship training in trauma/surgical critical care, related work experience, and demonstrated commitment toward research. Applicants with surgical critical care experience will be most competitive.

This position includes an academic appointment with the University of Maryland School of Medicine; rank will be commensurate with experience and training. A competitive salary is being offered, and the position is currently available.

Assistant Professor $286,094 $504,470

Associate Professor $332,566 $561,363

The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the Program in Trauma faculty compensation program or pay from participation in Department of Surgery variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. For more information, please contact the hiring department.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
