Dr. Asanthi Ratnasekera

Recipient of the 2022 EAST Multicenter Trial Junior Investigator Award

Testimonial

The EAST Multicenter Trial Junior Investigator Award allowed me to perform my first multicenter trial examining VTE prophylaxis in severe TBI patients. With the support of EAST and the mentors from the Multicenter Trials Committee, I was able to complete this trial and submit manuscripts to major journals in trauma. With the information we received through our study, I hope to apply for further grant funding to perform larger trials to help answer our initial questions regarding VTE prophylaxis in severe TBI patients. I was able to complete this trial out of a Level 2 trauma center as a junior faculty. This award has boosted my confidence and given me the knowledge to carry out larger trials and has provided me the stepping stones to obtain the amazing mentorship to carry it to the finish line.  This truly demonstrates the dedication that EAST has to its junior faculty such as myself to help boost my academic and professional career.
