Trauma/Critical Care Surgeon and General Surgery Residency Program Director

Cal Med Physicians and Surgeons, Inc. is seeking a general surgery/trauma and critical care surgeon with experience as a general surgery residency program director or associate program director to create and oversee a general surgery residency program at Eisenhower Medical Center, a Southern California community-based academic medical center.
The 476-bed, full-service medical center is seeking to start the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) general surgery residency program in 2025.
The program director will help to establish and lead a diverse and high-quality residency program through its accreditation, initial match, and long-term success.
The candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience as a program director/associate program director in administrative, educational and/or clinical services in an ACGME accredited general surgery residency program.
The program director responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: ensuring positive program outcomes through leadership and administrative oversight; ensuring the success of the institutional and departmental strategic objectives; providing direct involvement in patient care; providing continuous supervision of the residents and direct teaching of the residents; recruiting, retaining and promoting a top-quality resident body; and ensuring continuous accreditation of the program by clearly understanding and complying with the ACGME guidelines.
The candidate will receive significant assistance from experienced general surgery residency program directors in the application and accreditation process to create this new program.
In addition to his/her program director responsibilities, the candidate will be required to take acute care surgery/trauma call shifts from time to time.
