Qualifications: The Division of Trauma, Burns, Critical and Acute Care at New York-Presbyterian Hospital; Weill Cornell Medicine is currently accepting applications for a non-ACGME Acute Care Surgery fellowship position starting on August 1, 2020. The mission of the fellowship is to enhance the surgical, educational and research skills. The program achieves these aims through surgical mentorship, attending admitting and operative privileges, rotations through the ACS service, SICU, and a local community hospital setting. Depending on candidate's interest, rotations are also available on hepato-biliary, colorectal, vascular, and/or interventional radiology. Additional opportunities are possible at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The position includes didactic protected time for multidisciplinary conferences, research conferences, quality improvement and morbidity/mortality conferences, journal clubs, and grand rounds. Opportunities for research, education and administration can be tailored to meet individual fellow's needs. The fellow will also have the opportunity to gain experience in global surgery in resource-limited environments through our established relationship with the Weill-Bugando Medical Center in Mwanza Tanzania, and through other programs offered under the umbrella of the Weill Cornell Global Surgery Program. Applicants for the ACS fellowship must have successfully completed 5 years of ACGME approved surgical training and preferably a year of surgical critical care prior to beginning the fellowship. All applicants must be American Board of Surgery certified or eligible and qualify for a full NY state license. NYP/ Weill Cornell Medicine is located in an attractive residential area on the upper east side of New York City, adjacent to the East River. The center is ideally situated to take advantage of New York's cultural treasures. Numerous restaurants and shops of every kind are also just blocks away. Perhaps most appealing is the great diversity represented in New York's many ethnic neighborhoods, each offering their own unique experiences The U.S. News & World Report rankings of Best Medical Schools 2019-2020 places Weill Cornell Medical College ninth overall for Best Medical Schools in the US. New York-Presbyterian Hospital ranks as the #1 hospital in New York City and the #5 hospital in the US.
