Statement of Need:
With the increasing use of laparoscopic and robotic approaches, the traditional open surgical paradigm is evolving. However, several areas of controversy persist, including the use of surgical drains, the necessity and timing of postoperative radiographic imaging before initiating oral intake (e.g., postoperative day 3 versus day 5), and the indications, choice, and duration of antibiotic and antifungal therapy.
